Theodosius Ng – 'Hull', 2023
$1,180
"Hull" reimagines the body as clay, reflecting the malleability of both identity and clay itself. Just as clay endures an intense transformation in the kiln, so too does the human body as it adapts to the rigours of life.

Theodosius Ng 黄振康 (they/he), a queer Chinese ceramic artist based in Melbourne. Ng's work, employing techniques like wheel throwing and hand building, showcases their commitment to interdisciplinary processes and material exploration. Inspired by brutalism, religious architecture, sacred geometry, and nature, Ng's art reflects their queerness, chronic illness, and immigrant identity, delving into the unfamiliar within the familiar. Cultural and spiritual concepts drive their exploration, unearthing beauty and rituals. Ng's creations blur the line between art and utility, aiming for symbiotic collaboration with nature and community, pushing artistic boundaries by harmonizing diverse influences into meaning.
