Zachary Frankel — 'Cabinet For You', 2026

$24,480

A cabinet to keep your precious belongings. What would you keep in there? Carved by hand by Zachary Frankel, every flower is unique.

This cabinet is conceived as a vessel for treasured belongings, celebrating the objects we keep close to the heart. Inspired by a carved flower discovered in a vintage issue of The World of Interiors, the work reflects an exploration of memory, nostalgia and the enduring value of traditional craft. Developed during a residency at Domaine de Boisbuchet, the hand-carved oak flower became a central motif, bringing together influences from Romanesque and Classical Chinese furniture traditions alongside elements of Jewish numerology, which inform the cabinet’s numerical structure. Balancing strength with delicacy, and historical references with a contemporary sensibility, the cabinet is distinguished by its finely hand-carved floral details. Both commanding and intimate, it invites close engagement, offering moments of delight while honouring the skill, care and cultural knowledge embedded in its making.
