Ruby Brown
Brown's work explores our bodily experience of and connection to the world. Working at the intersection of sculpture and painting, Brown frequently turns to found and everyday materials that invite touch and movement, in particular vintage fabrics and acrylic polymer gap filler. She manipulates the surface of her works through ripping, collage, muting and veiling. Her mark making is intuitive – scraping, brushing, carving – and responsive to the specificity of the materials at hand.
