Timothy White — 'SURF'S UP' Sculptural Bowl

$280
SURF'S UP - A throw-back to my younger surfing days - this bowl has the hand painted surf rolling in to break on the beach with the ubiquitous palm tree.It has a clean white glaze on the inside and a clear glaze over the hand painted areas. There is a gold lustre rim to top it off, which drops down inside the bowl.

Timothy White is a ceramicist based on Wadawurrung and Bunurong Country in Melbourne's West. His practice began with an interest in the potential and uncertainty of the outcome. Beginning with stoneware clays he has progressed to working solely with porcelain, using wheel throwing techniques to build his forms. His pieces are hand finished in lustrous and colourful glazes which he carefully develops in house to produce one-of-a-kind pieces. Many of his forms have added lustres.

White has exhibited widely, and his work is held in public collections and numerous private collections in Australia and overseas. He has been selected as a finalist in many Awards including the Victorian Craft Awards, the Klytie Pate Ceramic Award and the North Queensland Ceramic Award. White studied a Diploma of Art and Design (Ceramics) at Victoria College, 1982 and a Graduate Diploma of Education (Art and Craft) at Victoria College, 1985.
