Drawing influence from post war and industrial revolution design periods, when technological advancements were glorified, the bowl has been made slowly, by hand on the potter's wheel, and carved.

Melbourne potter Sophie Moran is known for creating quality, contemporary tableware collections. With a career span of over twenty-five years, she maintains an independent studio practice and teaches wheel-thrown pottery to intermediate level students.
Prior to completing a Diploma of Arts (Ceramics) Sophie studied philosophy and literature, sparking a lifelong interest in the intersection between thought and act. She continues her investigations through her pottery practice and by writing about her craft.
