Solvere — 'Circulus' Necklace

$1,650

One of a kind necklace made in sterling silver set with a pink fresh water pearl salvaged from old jewellery. This piece is formed through a process the artist has developed of water casting wax of different harnesses at different temperatures and pouring techniques to create varied forms when poured in water. The water cast wax pieces are carefully selected and soldered together merging them to make the final organic form. Each formation is unique and due to the complexity of this piece it is unable to be remade. Any future iterations will be vastly different due to the nature of the process of making. This necklace comes with a fine belcher chain.

Angela Louise Powell goes under the jewellery name Solvere. Solvere in Latin means “a breaking into parts”; to loosen, set free, release, melt reflecting Powell’s haptic style of making and curiosity for material testing. Powell employs processes such as silicone casting of plants, electroforming household and industrial waste products, water and sand based casting of metal and wax to create pieces.
