Sarah Lockey
Sarah Lockey – 'A Brushing of Branches' Series, Necklace with Silver Branch, 2024
$690
By moving beyond the visual experience alone and drawing on a more visceral and nuanced sensory experience of jewellery, this body of work aims to re-connect the wearer with the natural environment through memory and meaning.
In the necklace series 'A Brushing of Branches' 2024, bundles of small apple and apricot branches sanded to a silky smooth finish, appear suspended. Each hanging on a fine silver chain, the branches softly brush and tap against each other as the wearer moves. This particular piece features a full branch cast in silver.

Sarah Lockey is an emerging artist living and practicing in Naarm, Melbourne. Her jewellery informed practice focuses on humanities relationship with the planet, and the notion of interconnectedness. Her sensory rich and tactile jewellery objects, who's forms are often drawn from the world of plants and flowers, serve to attune the wearer with memories of time spent in nature. Through engagement with materials derived from the natural environment, she aims to elicit future discourse around both sustainable living and ethical art making practices.
