Sam Woo-Ram Choi 'Walk In The Park' — 'Horn' #1 Bud Vase
A slender glass tube is set within the timber base and discreetly concealed with a second timber piece, allowing the vase to hold water while preserving its sculptural form. Place a single stem from the garden or roadside and bring a quiet touch of nature to your table. While the interior is water-tight, please wipe away any excess water from the timber surface to prevent staining or water damage.
*Note: This vase holds a small amount of water, approximately 20 ml. Working particularly well with orchid varieties, such as the Firestar orchid featured in the photo, and other long-lasting cut flowers with minimal foliage.

Woo-Ram (Sam) Choi is a New Zealand-based artist, designer, and maker behind Walk In The Park. Originally from Korea, Sam studied woodworking and furniture design at Hongik University. He began woodturning in 2016 and has since developed a practice-led approach to crafting both functional and sculptural objects. Working from his Auckland studio, Sam handmakes each piece, thoughtfully responding to the unique qualities of New Zealand’s native timbers. His work reflects a commitment to tactility and craftsmanship—merging natural materials with refined form to create objects that are both beautiful and functional.
In recognition of his ongoing contribution to contemporary craft and design, Sam was awarded the Creative Fellowship Fund by Creative New Zealand in 2024.
