Karla Laidlaw – 'Morocco', Bag 2023

A staple piece in the KARLAIDLAW brand. We have re-created the EMS bag. Inspired by a recent trip to Morocco and the hand made crafts seen Marakesh markets. By creating a one off piece, I was able to push the idea of what the EMS bag can be. We recreated the bag using a wool shag carpet base, hand painted and beaded design, complete with our signature K buckle and leather strips. Hinting towards the original EMS bag.

Established in 2019. Karlaidlaw is a streetwear brand run by Karla Laidlaw, in Melbourne/Naarm on the lands of the Kulin Nation. Each design goes through several processes to reach its final stage, with experimentation of fabrics being a large focus area for the brand, as it attempts to rethink the norm, and give customers pieces to express their individuality in the world.
