Gabriella Mello — 'Tres Irmas' Ceramic Sculpture
A pit-fired sculptural form that embodies themes of culture and heritage. Created in honour of Gabriela's three sisters, the work was saggar fired using culturally significant materials, including coffee grounds, banana peels, and corn husks, within a communal pit-firing process. The resulting surface carries the traces of these elements, embedding memory and ritual into the clay. This piece presents an abstract yet subtly powerful expression of cultural connection and familial reverence.
