Drew Abrahamson
Drew Abrahamson — 'Lignum Sanctum' Table, 2024
$25,000
Summarising the journey of Abrahamson’s artistic process from illustration and printmaking to construction and fabrication, Lignum Sanctum is a hedonistic ode to the opulence of ancient mythology. Assembled limb by limb and reanimated in walnut burl veneer, Lignum Sanctum evolves organic forms into surges of raw sophistication. A sculptural fable edged by sensual rituals and sacred spaces; Lignum Sanctum is the liberation of form guided by the tender disrobing of restraint.

Born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia. Drew Abrahamson can now most frequently be found in his Melbourne studio. The self-taught designer and artist lets his surroundings become the active ingredients of his work: hedonism, the fabulous, Earth’s natural wonders. Bestowing the asymmetric chaos of nature and modern civilisation for integration. Working across multiple mediums, Drew draws on a robust past of working in the heavily methodical- illustration, sculpture, landscaping and carpentry. Drew shies from no material; his practice continues to unfold, and attempts at categorisation are time wasted. His work has been recognised and praised internationally. Abrahamson was profiled and cited in Sight Unseen’s “Up and Coming”, included in Hypebeast’s “Best of 2023” and featured in Marie Claire France. The designer actively partakes in Melbourne’s bustling creative scene, presenting repeatedly with institutions such as Craft Victoria and NGV’s Melbourne Design Week.
