Dean Toepfer — 'Lambent Linear - 1.5m in Lilac' Sculptural Pendant, 2026
The Lambent Linear is a series of cylindrical luminaires that balance precision with softness, structure with atmosphere. A clean linear form is enveloped by reclaimed parachute textile, which gently pillows around the light source, softening the geometry and creating an organic, tactile presence.
The textile diffuses and scatters light to create a soft glow. Rather than simply illuminating a space, the surface itself becomes luminous, transforming the fixture into a sculptural presence.
Balancing industrial clarity with organic form, the series explores the relationship between material, light, and transformation, reimagining a high-performance fabric as a soft, atmospheric vessel for light.

Dean Toepfer is an Australian designer whose practice spans furniture, lighting, and objects. Through material exploration and fabrication, he examines how utility, tactility, and human connection can be embedded in the objects we encounter and use. His work reinterprets industrial processes and techniques, transforming familiar forms into objects that balance functional clarity with sculptural presence.
Driven by an ongoing curiosity and a hands-on approach to making, Toepfer uses experimentation to challenge familiar ideas and uncover new possibilities. His practice moves between considered design and open-ended exploration, allowing the qualities of materials, processes, and fabrication to shape the outcome.
