Chris Guthleben — Naked Raku Pot VI

Chris' raku forms have been thrown from a special clay, optimised by for Raku. Finished, burnished, bisqued to 1000 degrees and then slipped and glazed with a special mix and fired to 900 degrees in a special outside Raku kiln. The work is then reduced with sawdust and paper in bins and cooled rapidly in water in which the glaze comes off to revealing the surface of patterns developed during firing .

As a dedicated potter, Chris is constantly seeking new challenges and opportunities to expand her skills. Starting as a hobby with friends years ago, Chris went on to study at the National Art School. Chris taught in the adult education system on the Northern Beaches and Sydney and also gave workshops on Raku Pottery to Pottery Groups across New South Wales.
