Belinda Wiltshire — 'The Griever III' Sculptural Vessel, 2024
$1,480
The Griever III, is one of a three part series of sculptural works created to represent an expression of a collective grief taking inspiration from the fable of the Banshee and her roots within the Irish tradition of Keening. Each of the Grievers was made predominately on the potters wheel, finished on the outside with a deep black iron oxide, and on the inside with a dark gold glaze leading down to the depths of the conical form where a reflective pool of glass was fired in place.

Belinda Wiltshire is a ceramic artist and painter based in Melbourne/Naarm. Wiltshire's ceramic sculptures are made predominately on the wheel; often finished through hand building and post firing assembly. Influences of architecture, geometry, and engineering are channelled through the medium of clay in an intentionally human and sympathetic way. A sense of play and spontaneity in design are important to her work, which she introduces through unexpected angles, hidden joins, and the quiet revealing of details. Recently Wiltshire featured in The Design Files Studio Visit (2022), Wildflower Cut Of Objects (2024), Erria Issue 002 LA (2024) as well as two solo exhibitions at Michael Reid Clay, Northern Beaches, NSW & Sorse Gallery, Brunswick, VIC( 2023).
