Curio Practice

Georgia Brunmayr — 'Pears Lost in Lace' Knitted Blanket, 2026

$1,200

Created for Visionaries, this collaboration between Curio Practice and interior designer Tali Roth brings a shared fascination with colour, pattern and unexpected imagery into knitted textiles. Pears, apples suspended in clouds and tiger markings become the starting points for three one-off pieces, each exploring how familiar forms can take on a different character through wool.

The works move between drawing and domestic object, with the structure of knitting softening lines and giving imagery depth and texture. Made in Victoria using natural fibres, they bring Curio’s material-led approach into conversation with Tali’s instinct for expressive interiors.

There is a playful strangeness to the collection: fruit drifts out of place, animal markings become something to lean against, and everyday textiles hold small, imagined worlds.

CURIO PRACTICE is a material design studio founded by Georgie Brunmayr in 2020. Working across knitted textiles and objects, the studio explores colour, texture and form through a curious, playful lens. Drawing on Brunmayr’s background in material development, Curio combines technical experimentation with an intuitive approach to pattern and storytelling. Textiles are made in Victoria using natural fibres, with an emphasis on local production and enduring materials. From blankets and cushions to sculptural everyday objects, each piece invites a closer look: familiar forms become unexpected, practical things carry personality, and materials offer new possibilities for the spaces we live in.
