Ulrica Trulsson — Tall Lidded Vessel with Oxide Stain
Swedish-born artist Ulrica Trulsson began her studies in ceramics at Holmesglen in Melbourne in 2010. She later moved to Adelaide to undertake JamFactory’s renowned Associate Training Program, in 2012.
Discovery of the world and of herself within it underpins Ulrica's practice, which is characterized by refined structural elements, intriguing glazed surfaces with shifting colours and textures, and a preference for utilitarian vessels. Using variations of shape to explore space and glazed surfaces as a kind of restrained adornment for bold forms, the components of Trulsson’s work come together as meditations upon the minutiae and grandeur of the natural world.
Ulrica had her first solo exhibition at JamFactory, followed by solo exhibitions at Sabbia, Shepparton Art Museum and Beaver Galleries. She has featured in group exhibitions Saint Cloche, Sabbia Gallery, Skepsi and at Craft Victoria in 2020 as part of Inside. Her work features in the Hamilton Gallery and in private collections across Australia.
