Claudia Lau — 'Silver Service' Pet Food Station, 2024

$3,800

Silver Service embodies the notion of inheriting a life of privilege, comfort, and luxury from birth - reminiscent of the indulgent treatment most pets receive from their owners. Silver Service has been made in dedication to my toy poodle Pie Pie. It is a drinking and grazing station designed for a delicate dog. It features a water fountain that provides a quiet ambience of fresh running water, an elevated dinner plate with hidden space for a treat after the main course and an incorporated vase that adds a touch of elegance with space for a flower collected during daily walks.

Claudia Lau works at the intersection of craft and design. Her design practice is defined by an ongoing investigation into the boundaries of ceramic manipulation. A mixture of production experience, technical classes, material chemistry and theoretical approaches to ceramic practice has informed her investigations. Straddling both experimentation and the refined, she divides her practice and time between a studio practice in Melbourne and HOUSE EDITIONS, a ceramic design and production studio focusing on timelessness, relevance and beauty based in Jingdezhen, China. This cultural exchange is where she has developed a deeper connection with the tradition of ceramics and experimental production methods. Claudia is represented by C. Gallery, Melbourne.
