Marian Fox — Marking place, making space I', Sculptural Vessel
This hand built sculptural piece is both functional and decorative. The exterior is coated with liquid quartz, an industry product used to protect the surface of ceramics as well as making the work water tight.
“This is a reflection on the paths and roads we choose to take and avoid, our marking of space, the boarders and barriers we create and are confined by” – Marian Fox.

Marian Fox is a ceramic artist based in Ballarat, on Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung lands. Their practice is intuitive, with each piece emerging as a direct response to mood, focus, and influence at the time of making. Marian’s work often incorporates oxides, underglazes, and engobes, exploring themes of family history, landscape, and memory through color, line, and pattern.
In 2024, Marian was a demonstrator at Craft Lab. Previously, they were selected as a UNESCO representative to exhibit at the Traditional Craft and Folk Art Triennale in Jinju, South Korea (2023). That same year, their work was recognized by the National Emerging Art Prize as part of ACB Selects 2023
