Kristin Burgham

Kristin Burgham — Large 'Loving Cup' in Snow, Sculptural Vessel

$290

Loving Cups date from medieval Europe; Kristin's Loving Cups are based on the two-handled vessels found on bric-a-brac tables. There are so many variations to be found, each indicating trends of the time in which they were manufactured, containing so much information about the era. This is the tall size in the Loving Cup series. Due to its construction the piece is not water tight. It can be washed in warm water.

Kristin Burgham is a Melbourne based ceramicist working with industrial ceramic production processes and found objects. She works with discarded objects to explore and build on the narrative of both the abandoned object and evidence of its maker. Her hand-built porcelain objects result in assemblages imbued with colour, scale and memory. Her works acknowledge and reflect on industry and its social history.

Burgham has studied ceramics in Australia and Hong Kong and her work has been acquired by Shepparton Art Museum for their public collection and is also in private collections. She completed a BFA at RMIT in 2019 and won the RMIT Ceramics Association judges choice award in 2019.
