Curtis Bloxsidge — 'Side Chair', 2026

This piece follows the archetype of the classic side chair. It possesses a long hind leg that protrudes up through the seat transitioning into the backrest and embedded with a playful composition of knit inlays. The simple form is held also by two bold front legs set into a triangular seat.

Working between traditional handcraft and contemporary processes, Curtis' focus on natural materials to create bold, minimal pieces that are grounded, quiet, and enduring. 

His work is informed by personal and sentimental histories with each piece approached not just as an object but also as a character, shaped by restraint, proportion, and touch. Curtis' designs draw subtle references from the natural world and classical furniture archetypes, distilled into reduced forms that feel both familiar and considered with emphasis placed on material honesty, surface, and shadow.

Curtis was the recipient of the 2025  VIVID Emerging Designer Awards: Winner in Lighting and the VIVID Emerging Designer Awards: Commendation Award in Furniture.
