Laura Deakin is a jeweller and designer based in Melbourne/Naarm. Coral Covey was founded and established in 2014 in Munich by Laura Deakin. Coral Covey is a business committed to sustainable jewellery practices. It is Laura’s goal to continue making a positive environmental difference within her field of bespoke art. The name, Coral Covey, is the unity of Laura’s two grandmothers, Coral McKissick and Gladys Covey, who were both important influences in the designer’s life, and taught her the importance of caring for her community and environment. Deakin holds a Master’s in Fine Art from the Academy of Fine Arts Munich (Jewellery). Deakin recently exhibited in the Treasures Exhibition at the Australian Design Centre Sydney (2024). Her work has been acquired by the NGV as part of Melbourne Now (2023).
