Joungmee Do is a distinguished jeweller and metal artist recognised for her contemporary approach to the traditional Korean metal inlaying technique, jjoeumipsa. Born and educated in Korea, she came to Australia in 1997 to further her studies in gold and silversmithing. Drawing from her Eastern and Western art education, she intricately weaves her cultural legacy into her practice, revealing profound layers of her heritage as creative expression.
Her distinguished career encompasses exhibitions at prestigious national and international venues, earning her numerous awards and accolades. Her work is found in the esteemed collections of the Musée des Arts Decoratifs, National Gallery of Australia, Powerhouse Museum, Art Gallery of South Australia, Art Centre Melbourne, Castlemaine Art Museum, Hamilton Art Gallery, Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery, and in private collections nationally and internationally. Joungmee’s creativity is an eloquent conduit between tradition and contemporary expression, captivating audiences globally.
