Lachlan Vasic

Lachlan Vasic — 'Wally's tea tin', 2024

$1,900
“Leave the light on; a continuation of vessels and light shades from my earlier series - Space to hold - exploring the use of hollow forms and their involvement with the space and light around them. I position myself as an observer, examining the balance between positive and negative space and how materials interact with light around them. Through constructing gradual forms and effortless contours, I have created metal vessels in a simple, bold style. I draw focus not just on my artworks but also the space an viewer, creating a holistic experience. I encourage viewers to investigate my vessels from all angles and distances to foster their own playful discovery.” Lachlan Vasic

Lachlan Vasic is a Naarm/Melbourne-based artist, forming sculptures and objects through his practice of gold and silversmithing. He is inspired by day-to-day urban landscapes and subtle details, from warm ‘50s architecture to ‘90s brutalist sculpture. As he develops his practice, he continues to explore themes of memory and childhood nostalgia through making hollow vessels, light shades and contemporary jewellery. Vasic graduated from RMIT University with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Gold and Silversmithing) in 2024.
