Kirsten Haydon – 'Ice Drops', Pendants Series 2023
Ice scapes are formed through the accumulation of frozen water molecules or particles. Ice drops is informed by Antarctic environments and ice core processing that analyses droplets melted from the inner most section 100cm long ice cores. Glass distillation spheres represent each individual drop of water that are collected at in scientific endeavours from the continuous melting process testing isotopes. The transparent spheres are fused into the perforated the solid glacier and make reference to the preciousness of this testing. The perforated steel and enamel surfaces are granulated with drops that can in turn hold miniature images when looked through. These drops draw in the environment and emit and reflect directional light.
