Daria Fox is a jewellery and object maker based in Melbourne/Naarm.
Her practice uses processes of lost wax casting and hand fabrication to create pieces made from precious metals and gemstones.
In her work with precious stones and metals, Fox explores themes of protection, in particular the role of adornment as amulets and talismans. Through her Italian heritage Fox was raised with superstition, rituals and jewellery that intended to protect from the ever threatening evil eye. The use of threes is symbolically protective and the complimentary precious stones are carefully selected with this intention and meaning for the wearer.
Fox undertook an Advanced Diploma of Jewellery & Object Design, Melbourne Polytechnic and an Associateship at Jam Factory, Adelaide.
