Solvere — 'Neptune Pearl' Studs

This piece has been made by casting seaweed salvaged from washed ashore seaweed found on coastal walks on Boonwurrung country to transform them into metal.

Angela Louise Powell goes under the jewellery name Solvere. Solvere in Latin means “a breaking into parts”; to loosen, set free, release, melt reflecting Powell’s haptic style of making and curiosity for material testing. Powell employs processes such as silicone casting of plants, electroforming household and industrial waste products, water and sand based casting of metal and wax to create pieces.
