Angela Powell

Solvere — 'Undergrowth' Studs

$380

These earrings were cast from floral plant matter, then a wax relief was made to be cast into forms reminiscent of low-lying shrubs and small species living in coastal undergrowths and rock pools.

Angela Louise Powell goes under the jewellery name Solvere. Solvere in Latin means “a breaking into parts”; to loosen, set free, release, melt reflecting Powell’s haptic style of making and curiosity for material testing. Powell employs processes such as silicone casting of plants, electroforming household and industrial waste products, water and sand based casting of metal and wax to create pieces.
