Laura Velef
Laura Velef — 'Specimen Gully' Vessel #9
This sculptural vessel is wheel thrown and assembled stoneware with collected slate rocks, processed to create a textured slip glaze. This vessel references the upturned and rearranged Central Victorian Goldfields landscape where the artist lives and works, on Dja Dja Wurrung Country. The work asks us to contend with the lasting impacts of our actions while at the same time valuing what remains- celebrating this landscape in recovery.
