Ash Allen – 'Satchel' Handbag

This piece pays homage to the boring, utilitarian "Gladstone" medical bag. Flocked brown to soften its overall feel, the gold-plated toggle latch and hinging pivot arms contrast, as they
function to open and shut the satchel.

Ash Allen is a multi-award winning, Melbourne-based furniture designer. A mechanical engineer by trade, he enjoys making original furniture pieces which have a strong narrative and minimal environmental footprint.

Allen recently exhibited a solo presentation at the Melbourne Design Fair, 2023.
