Vanessa Lucas — Gena Teacup and Saucer in White
Working simultaneously across the mediums of textile and clay, Vanessa Lucas has a practice whereby the refining of form and the consideration of function have resulted in works of impeccable quality.
Vanessa has both trained and taught in the field of textiles, receiving an Advanced Certificate of Clothing Design, from RMIT, later receiving her ceramic mould making Certificate from Holmesglen Institute of TAFE in 2005. She has since worked in a disciplined double medium practice between textile and clay. Vanessa works to refine and perfect her crafts, and has exhibited in many esteemed exhibitions, including the 10th International Ceramics Competition in Mino, Japan receiving an honourable mention.
Vanessa’s graceful and disciplined ceramic forms, exhibited here at Craft, are a joy to use. Attention is paid to the performance of the work, and each object offers an opportunity to engage with presence in the action of use.
