Christopher Boots – 'PLATTO' Side Table, 2023
PLATTO is a simple side table, exploring possibilities in repurposing waste materials from the production floor, creating their own hallmark terrazzo. Composed of brass and quartz crystal offcuts, all carefully set by hand into a green Jesmonite.
Three terrazzo parts slot together resulting in a self-supporting, flat-pack table. The production of this small table creates zero waste, resulting in a sustainable piece of furniture.
Winner of the 2020 IDEA award in the "Object - Furniture and Lighting (Professional)" category.
Please note, the lead time to order this table is approximately 18 weeks
The Christopher Boots studio was founded on the principle of “Fiat Lux”: Let there be Light.
Established 11-11-11 through metaphysical and material exploration of quartz crystal, the studio gave birth to creating lighting with a signature aesthetic: exploring relationships between nature, architecture, symbology, geometry and geology, offering contemporary interpretations of structure, symmetry and pattern. The studio designs, prototypes and builds in Melbourne, Australia, honouring traditional elements of form, proportion and scale, marrying traditional and cutting edge materials with various techniques, creating future collectibles designed for transforming architecture.
