Zachary Frankel — Cloud Chair, 2022
The Cloud Chair is a forward-thinking piece of furniture crafted from post-industrial waste and recycled plastics. It is constructed without the use of glue and uses rods and bolts that can be easily disassembled and assembled as needed. The base material is composed of UV-stable and moisture resistant plastic, making it suitable across both indoor and outdoor settings. The chair successfully elevates its composite of recycled products beyond secondary objects and into a contemporary piece of design; versatile and comfortable, it is as much at home in your loungeroom as it is poolside.

Zachary Frankel is a designer and artist exploring furniture, sculpture, objects, lighting and cabinet hardware. Based in Naarm/Melbourne and working collaboratively across disciplines and materials, he trained as a jeweller but has spent most of his career working as a furniture designer and maker. Design begins with an open exploration of form and material. Through a process of experimentation, his aim is to develop new ideas without a commercial imperative, letting his intuition and curiosity guide him. His work, often carrying strong geometric volumes and referencing historical styles, is also undeniably contemporary.
