Therapy can be fun?
—
Vipoo Srivilasa lives and works in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia, where his studio, ClayLAB, is situated within the Kulin Nation/Cheltenham.
Vipoo has created participatory projects that encourage people to express themselves creatively through storytelling and clay, in order to process difficult experiences.
His works often explore the dark parts of experience including isolation, loneliness, nostalgia, as well as joy, beauty, and hope in the midst of these struggles. Over the past two decades, Vipoo has made works that engage with complex questions of queerness, migration and spiritual meaning, using an aesthetic and medium that is accessible, uplifting and beautiful.
Vipoo was awarded a Bachelor of Art (Ceramics) from Rangsit University, Bangkok, Thailand in 1994 which he followed with a Graduate Diploma of Arts (Ceramics) four years later at Monash University in Melbourne, and in 1999 was awarded a Master of Fine Art and Design from the University of Tasmania, Hobart.
