Shimara Carlow — Gold and Silver Pendant
With traditional Goldsmithing training from the Glasgow School of Art, and also from the Bishopsland Workshop in South Oxfordshire, Scottish jeweller Shimara Carlow is now happily based in Melbourne, with a purpose-built home studio. From her workshop, Shimara raises vessels and vases, tableware and bowls, and hand makes bespoke jewellery pieces from silver and 18ct gold and precious stones.
Craft Victoria has carried Shimara’s work for many years, and her graceful, timeless designs are beautiful to look at and impeccably made. Featuring layering and detailing that patinates with time, revealing a life with the wearer, Shimara’s pieces are perfect markers for special occasions and treasures for life.
Left to oxidise with time, her pieces gather depth and oxidisation that evolves beautifully, or they can be cleaned with bi-carbonate of soda, water and a toothbrush, to maintain the bright sheen of un-oxidised sterling silver and gold.
Materials: sterling silver with 18ct gold bead
***Please note that each work is crafted by hand, and as such slight variations exist from piece to piece. If you'd like to see all iterations at Craft — don't hesitate to email email@example.com or leave a message via the friendly Craft robot.
