Shimara was born in Ireland in 1979. She studied silversmithing at the Glasgow School of Art and then completed a 2 year residency at Bishopsland Workshops in South Oxfordshire before setting up her own business and workshop in London in 2004. She now lives in Melbourne, working from her studio at the Abbotsford Convent. Shimara's jewellery has been inspired by natural forms, primarily seedpods. She has several ranges including an 18ct gold range with precious stones such as diamonds, pink sapphire and aquamarine, including a selection of wedding and engagement rings. Her silversmithing range includes vessels, bowls, vases and tableware which are all hand raised, from flat sheets of metal. All pieces are hand made and unique. Shimara will also work to commission, and will design and create an individual piece of jewellery or silverware.
