Samantha Dennis — Small Pearl Beetle Brooch
Samantha Dennis is an artist based in Launceston, Tasmania producing experimental jewellery and sculptural installations, alongside small collections of functional ceramic objects.
Samantha graduated from the Bachelor of Contemporary Arts with First Class Honours at the University of Tasmania in 2014. Since then she has been shortlisted for several prizes and awards, having won the Artentwine Sculpture Biennale's Small Sculpture Prize in 2016, and the Jewellery Award in Design Tasmania’s 2019 Design Awards.
Samantha’s art is inspired by science and natural history. She is drawn to micro lifeforms, from beetles to bacteria, examining how their biology can be translated into objects.
