Minna Graham — Carved Mug with Handle in Black and Ash

Wheel-thrown mug with handle and triangulated base, made from reclaimed clay and finished in matte black and a local ash-glazed interior. Made for daily use, and dishwasher safe.

Minna Graham is a ceramic artist living and working near Daylesford on Dja Dja Wurrung country. Heavily influenced by nature, she uses contrasting elements to achieve balance in her ceramic forms. Through processes of carving, tearing, cutting and ripping she exposes what is below the surface. Graham incorporates slips, pigments and glazes in her work to create tonal contrast and texture. These processes are an emotional response to the contrasting seasons, cultures and traditions.  

Graham has been the finalist for numerous Australian ceramic awards and has collaborated with the hospitality and entertainment industry to create commission-based works.  

Graham studied a Diploma of Ceramics at the University of Ballarat, 2009 and a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Federation University in Victoria, 2014.
