Lyras Daear

Lyras Daear — Awyr Glas (Sky Blue), 2022

$3,500

Lyras Daear (they/them) is an emerging textile artist-designer living on Wurunderi Country, and a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Textiles program at RMIT. With a main focus on hand weaving and surface embellishment, their work aims to foster communication between people, time, and place. Recently their practice has focused on their own lived experience with Visual Snow Syndrome - a rare neurological condition that is almost impossible to verbalise. By experimental play with fibre, colour and structure, Lyras creates tactile and optically charged portals that invite viewers into their surreal world while challenging the conventions of their craft.
