Louise Meuwissen — Pucker Dress
Louise Meuwissen is a Narrm Melbourne based artist working in textiles, embroidery, sculpture, and installation. Through labour intensive manipulation of recycled found materials, she explores the tensions between luxury, consumption, beauty, and the weight of adornment.
Louise graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2013 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) (Printmaking). Since then she has exhibited her work extensively in both solo and collaborative shows, and has undertaken artist residencies in Australia and New Zealand.
Louise's textiles and jewellery showcased at Craft Victoria are distillations of her large-scale sculptural work, with each piece being a one-of-a-kind work of art that can not be repeated.
Louise Meuwissen's Pucker Dress is an effortless loose-fitting kaftan style garment, designed to fall below the knee. The permanently pressed hand-textured fabric moves elegantly with the body, making for perfect easy wear and care.
