Drawn to the work’s heightened chartreuse hue, Temin uses colour and materiality to evoke personal and collective memories. Influenced by topiary, idealised landscapes and repeated forms, the sculpture belongs to her broader My Monument and garden series, in which themes of remembrance and the symbolic role of gardens are recurring concerns. This singular tree also informs a larger public artwork commissioned for the 97 Alma Rd development by Neometro, designed by Kerstin Thompson in East St Kilda.

—

Kathy Temin studied at Victoria College, Prahran and at The Victorian College of The Arts.
