Katherine Hubble — 'Lustre Series' Shell Brooch in Fluro Pink
In the Lustre Series, Hubble seeks to reimagine shell jewellery through a contemporary practice. She employs industrial processes and contemporary materials.
Katherine Hubble is an art jeweller who investigates new ways of looking at traditional jewellery. She uses a combination of industrial processes and gold & silversmithing methods to challenge notions of material preciousness. Central to her practice is vacuum forming an industrial technique she employs to reimagine one of the most traditional ornamental craft motifs, the shell.
Hubble was part of The Marzee International Graduate Show, Netherlands, 2022 and Melbourne Now for NGV Australia, 2023. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) at RMIT in 2017 and a Master of Fine Art, RMIT, 2022.
