Multidisciplinary weaver and Melbourne based artist, John Brooks is widely known for his impressive use of colour and texture in his work. Originally studying Fine Art at both Monash and VCA before completing an Advanced Diploma of Textile Design & Development and a Diploma of Arts: Studio Textiles at RMIT, Brooks already has a prolific career. Collaborating across fashion and textile industries, most recently he has participated in residency programs at the Australian Tapestry Workshop 2016 and the Icelandic Textile Centre in Blönduós, Iceland. His series for Craft, features both his hand loomed backpacks and wall and floor works, which have been painstakingly created both as functional works and aesthetic objects in and of themselves.
