Ella Bendrups — Tall Scarva Stoneware 'Solcare' Vase in Black
The Solcare Series derives its name from the Italian verb meaning "to plow". The series combines a timeless form with a surface texture reminiscent of the furrowed earth in a cultivated field. Each piece is hand coiled and smoothed before being combed to achieve the distinctive surface texture. The black scarva stoneware has been treated with a Liquid Quartz sealer making the vessel ideal for use as an art object or vase. Please note it is recommended to place ceramic pieces on a trivet or runner to prevent potential damage to surfaces, especially when being used as a vase.

Ella Bendrups is a ceramic artist based in Naarm/Melbourne. Through her practice she explores ancient clay and stone artefacts and their ability to transcend the times and cultures in which they were created. Her works embrace the expressive nature of hand building, pinching, coiling, carving and hammering clay to highlight the maker's touch. Commissions and limited series are created in a small home studio with each piece resulting in an innate form refined for the modern context.
Bendrups has participated in exhibitions in Victoria and New South Wales. She has a background in styling and has completed a Bachelor of Communication Design, RMIT, 2010, and a Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration at RMIT, 2013.
