Elizabeth Kennedy’s jewellery practice displays an inherent understanding of materials, precious metals being at the forefront of her research. Hand in hand with the inherent strengths of these materials – predominantly for Craft Victoria, gold and sterling silver – Elizabeth’s minimal forms are ‘lightened’ and patterned with hundreds of tiny hand drilled holes. The resulting screens of metal twist and fold, revealing glimpses of what is behind, and offering an insight into the dimensional structure of the full form.
Elizabeth has practices as a jeweller for over 25 years, from her home studio in Richmond, Melbourne. Her training is in both jewellery (BA Fine Arts, RMIT) and Sculpture (BA Fine Arts, RMIT) and these twin practices result in jewellery that beautifully addresses form and function.
