Dean Toepfer — Apres Drinks Cart, 2019

The Apres cart is an architecturally inspired, contemporary take on the traditional drinks trolley.

Shape and line relations were explored to design a piece with flowing form that is both sculptural and structural. The frame is constructed from steel tube which consists of two main bodies that interweave and suspend from one another.

The cart trays and wheels are made from cnc routed American Walnut, giving the timber surface a 3-dimensional form.

Dean Toepger is a furniture, Objects & Lighting Designer based in Adelaide/Kaurna.

Through his creative endeavours, Toepfer is committed to producing quality, functional and honest designs with an emphasis on detail and originality. His interests lay in the exploration of material, shape, and form, seeing how each one can interact and coincide.

His practise is underpinned by the belief that our home environment and the objects we choose to live with are an expression of our personalities. How we design these spaces can greatly influence our mood and emotions.

Toepfer’s primary objective when designing a piece is to create objects that form a connection to our environments through materiality, aesthetics, and character.
