Rosie Gunzburg

Rosie Gunzburg — 'Inflate Series #4' Sculpture

$320

Contemporary Collector Series: The Work of Rosie Gunzburg

Rosie Gunzburg is a Melbourne-based artist working within jewellery and small-objects. Her practice considers the intersection between the digital and the hand-made and looks at how digital technologies disrupt traditional gold and silversmithing processes. Gunzburg is currently undertaking a PhD at RMIT and has participated in exhibitions both locally and internationally, including Galerie Marzee’s Graduate Show in the Netherlands. In 2018 Rosie was awarded the Emily Hope Award for figurative work and in 2019 undertook a residency at EKA in Tallinn, Estonia.

In an unpredictable process, Gunzburg used electrical currents to drive the layering and growth of copper over plastic forms to create her Red Conglomerate and Inflate series.

Gunzburg’s Stitch series looks at transformations between the digital, hand-made and natural world. This body of work examines a new complexity in physical making; an interaction between the unpredictable material behaviour of enamel with the highly organised, algorithmic patterning from the computer.
