Jesse Dyer is an emerging artist from Melbourne. His practice engages with hybrid forms — combining individual media forms (video, photo, text) in interactive web-based artworks. Since learning bookmaking at Ancora Press during his BFA, Dyer has explored possibilities of the medium. His artist books have used letterpress, hand-set type, traditional binding methods, cyanotypes and gum bichromate printing.
The hand-stitched text block is durable enough for the most gestural marks and unusual media — collage, watercolour, charcoal and even oil-based inks. The particular qualities of cotton paper means it will hold its form when wet, allowing you to use a range of watercolour techniques without fear of damage. The final page is embossed with the maker's name.
The entirely archival preparation and materials make it also the ideal matrix for your most considered and reflective work. 140 pages of Somerset Book 115gsm; a pure cotton paper made from St. Cuthberts Mill, England. Endpapers are Hahnemühle Bugra from Dassel, Germany. Bound in leather with archival glue from Langridge and linen thread from Gruschwitz.
