Catrine Berlatier — Tan and Red Woven Paper Neckpiece
Exhibiting work both internationally and nationally, French born, Melbourne based jeweller Catrine Berlatier creates masterful pieces which speak simultaneously of fragility and strength.
Pre-occupied and saddened by a culture of waste and impermanence, Catrine’s work reuses fibres, paper and plastics, emphasising a thoughtfulness of consumption. Spending hour’s elaborately folding and re-interpreting materials into elegant and beautiful pieces that are simultaneously a pleasure to wear and an important moment of considered production, Catrine’s work is at once conceptual and wearable.
Catrine transforms materials that are seemingly mundane and insignificant into elegant and sculptural jewels, a pleasure to wear and beautiful forms to observe.
