Bridget Bodenham is one of Australia’s most prominent emerging studio potters. Her organic, functional and incredibly inviting work feature in some of Australia’s most loved handcrafted retail stores and also appear in some of the country’s finest craft and design exhibitions. In 2006 Bridget was selected for Craft’s Fresh! and following the exhibition she was short listed for the Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award.
Recognising the beautiful variation inherent in the stoneware ceramics she makes, Bridget has created a language of minimal, hand raised vessels and hand formed jewellery bearing poetic and recognisable drawings and patternings in blues, golds and silver glazes. The juxtaposition of grainy stoneware and bright, beautiful glazes has become Bridget’s signature.
She is an active participant in the Victorian ceramics community and she works tirelessly to produce her works, and to work collaboratively with other makers, emphasising the value of living with handmade objects and supporting local industry.
