Belle Thierry - Shifting Column Vase 'Neck'
Cast using a single plaster mould which has been sawn into multiple segments , each porcelain vessel is formed through a process of reconstruction. The mould shifted, inverted or rearranged to create multiple narratives of a single form.
Belle Thierry is visual artist based in Melbourne/Naarm
Her practice incorporates elements of ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media, often juxtaposing materials such as ceramic and metal to convey narrative.
Thierry's practice primarily revolves around the materiality of porcelain, exploring the way material and form has affect on light, shadow and space. Subdued and minimal her work emits colour and instead focusses on the essential gesture of form, highlighting the integral qualities of material, shown in its most authentic state.
